Question

Sony DSC-S930 Camera (optical/digital zoom)

Mar 21, 2012 7:42AM PDT

I have my camera set for 10mp auto-focus. Is there an "indicator" when I use the "zoom" to let me know when I have exceeded the "3x-optical" capability and began using "digital zoom". I have heard that "optical" is better than "digital", but neither the instruction manual or handbook mention an "indicator". THANKS

Page 14 in the manual shows the indicator on the LCD, what x factor, and whether you have Smart Zoom or Precision Digital Zoom engaged.

Optical versus Digital zoom?

Yeah! Most Digital camera ads talk about both optical and digital zoom, but I am really not sure about this even though technology can make this happen. But then, can anyone brief me on how these two apps works?
