sony digital not taking photo

I have a dsc- p31sony that i did not use for a long time, about a year,i got the battery's recharged and try taking some pic's but it was was not taking any photo's, i also got some new memory,in it,i am however able to review photo's on the old memory stick.any one who can help ,or tell me anything about the problem,please do.

Back in October of 2005, Sony issued an advisory notice about defective CCD sensors on many of its cameras.

The P31 is on the list.

They state that they will repair the camera for free.
