General discussion

Sony DCR-TRV530

Feb 1, 2005 6:19AM PST

I'm very new to all of this and I'm trying to figure out if there was any way that I could get the video that I recorded with my Sony DCR-TRV530 Digital 8 Camcorder onto my computer (which is Windows XP). I have the USB cord plugged in & everything, & I've got two digital video editors, but I don't know how to actually get the video onto my computer & save it, nothing comes up when I plug it in. I'm so confused. Any help would be gladly appriciated. Thank you.

The users manual for that camera is not very helpful in how to connect the camera to a computer.

The best that I can tell, is that camera does have a firewire connection, which Sony calls i.LINK. Check the manual for references to i.LINK

You will need an i.LINK cable which Sony lists as an option for that camera. You will need a firewire connection to your computer.

If you do not have a firewire connection on your computer, you will have to add a PCI card which has the firewire connection.

..............

I suggest that you post your question on the "Camcorders Forum".

You will find that forum at this link:

You will probably find more people familiar with connecting a TRV530 to a computer on the Camcorders Forum.

Mar 15, 2005 11:51PM PST

Hello Heather. I am having the same problem with my Sony camcorder, where I cannot seem to view video footage. Although I have firewire, I still do not know what prevents me from this feature.
Please feel free to contact me directly at rbrown@camaudio.com.
Thank you.
