Sony DCR-SR82 after-market BP-FH100 battery won't work?

Jul 19, 2007 11:08PM PDT

Thought I'd save a buck or two & get a BP-FH100 7.2v 4200mAh (Li-ion) after-market battery so I'd have a backup to the standard NP-FH40 that comes with the Sony DCR-SR82, but the message 'cannot use this battery with camcorder' pops up on the LCD screen then the camcorder shuts down. Any suggestions...or am I out of luck & money now?? Sad

Many of the infolithium batteries have no replacements from other parties. Try the real thing.

Jumper cable

I was able to get this battery to work by using the provided cable that plugs into the 'FH' port on the back of the battery & in to the 'DC in' port on the camera. Only took me a couple of days to figure that out...oops! Happy

FH 100 battery

The battery does not charge on the camcorder as other batteries do. You must charge the battery using the DC connect charger. Then after charged, use the small connect link (which should have come with the battery) to plug the battery into the camcorder for powering the camcorder

Thanks. I live in Peru, and had a friend bring me the Sony camera and battery from the US. I also got the "You cannot use this battery in this camcorder" message, and figured that it was Sony locking out all non-Sony batteries. I was upset, because I was going to have to figure out how to get a more expensive, Sony brand battery sent to me, and this one refunded. Your tip about the jumper cable did it for me, and saved me a huge hassle. I figured that the cable was so that you could charge both the battery on the camera and the spare battery at the same time. I don't know if that works or not, but using the jumper cable to power the camera sure does the trick. Thanks!
