Is this connectivity issue and other issues (like Hard Drive vs. DVtape, High-Def) worth an upgrade to the new sony hi-def handycam?
Thanks, y'all.

MY MAIN QUESTION IS: Am I losing video quality since I can't connect via an IEEE-1394 Firewire connection??? Is it going to make a difference in the final quality of the DVD's I wish to make???
Explanation to follow:
First...let me warn you that I am a total NOVICE when it comes to digital video capture/editing.
That being said....
I just purchased a sony dcr-sr100 along with a pinnacle 700-USB (this came with Pinnacle Studio Plus 10.5 Titanium Ed.).
As many of you know, this camcorder does not have a Firewire output. It has a composite vid out (not S-Video), and a USB out. The 700-USB does NOT have a USB IN. So I can connect to the 700-USB using the composite connections, or directly to the computer from the camcorder using the USB-2 connection.
According to the Pinnacle manual I MUST use a Firewire connection for Pinnacle to recongnize it as a DV camcorder. A USB connection, either from the OUT of the SR100 or the 700-USB, is treated as an analog capture source by Pinnacle.
This seems to limit my options during capture.
So again, MY MAIN QUESTION IS: Am I losing video quality since I can't connect via an IEEE-1394 Firewire connection??? Is it going to make a difference in the final quality of the DVD's I wish to make???
Any advice/knowledge would be most appreciated.
