Sony DCR-PC330 - control microphone when windy?

Jun 13, 2004 10:17PM PDT

Recently purchased the Sony DCR-PC330 and am starting to see its failures and the good marketing of Sony!

My old Sony Hi8 camera (8 yrs old), had a microphone setting for Wind (on/off). When On the microphone's sensibility was greatly reduced and the wind on the microphone no longer produced horrible saturation noise.

I cant find a way of setting this option in my new camera.
I read from the CNEt review that the recording sound cannot be set manually.
Does it mean I'm stuck?
Should I buy an external mic that works better in windy conditions?

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

JB

I'd look at the classic cures for wind noise. The usual foam cover, external mic, foam cover for same and the the shaggy dog with foam core cover for the mic.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for your tips.
Went looking for external mic yesterday and purchased the Sony ECM-HS1, which has a protective foam very effective against wind noises.
