Sony DCR-HC40 Wont Charge

Jan 1, 2006 3:42PM PST

Hi,

My Sony Handycam will no longer charge when plugged in. The yellow light does not come on and instead the light next to the memory stick slot flashes red even when the camera is off. This may have been caused from a drop, though I am not sure of this. Is this something that is repairable? Is it worthwhile to send it somewhere to be fixed or do I need to replace the entire camera. It still seems to have recorded on what was left of the battery so other functions seem to be working properly. If it is repairable what kind of price am I going to expect?

Thank you for any advice.

(NT) (NT) Have you tried an external battery charger?

External Battery Charger

Thank you..I had that same thought after I posted. I found one for about fifty dollars so if the repairs would be too high, I figure I can try that. My other concern is the flashing red light at the memory stick slot.

Thanks,

Seems pricey.

Even my best buy unit with a 4.5 hour battery was 119, so something is odd about that price.

Keep shopping.
