Sony DCR-HC30 Memory Stick Duo problems

Nov 3, 2004 8:36AM PST

we've been using with tapes only since july 04 with no problems. Suddenly the memory stick starts clicking like it's trying to read something but it's not engaged (clicking sound) The on/off mode switch isn't functioning properly either. Any help is appreciated.

Well, The same is here. My sony dcr-hc30 keeps flash with the light for Memory Stick Duo, and the camera's on/off function does not work well, when charging the battery the light is still off. And more, it sounds like a clock with "di,da" sound when the camera is in off/charge condition. Please help. Thanks!

I am having similar problem with my HC30.

Memory stick light flashes (only visible in dark
area) with click sound: ti-ta, ti-ta, ...
On/off is not working appropriately. Recharging
light didn't come up even when AC is connected and
battery level is low. Changing a DV tape didn't
help either.

Called sony, then on/off suddenly works while
we were talking over the phone, but ti-ta click
sound continues. Finally they referred me to a
"local" service shop, which is 3 hrs away from
my city.

Any help on your experience on this problem? I
really hope I do not have to visit the 3hr away
service shop.

Reset
Jan 15, 2005 1:32AM PST

We performed a reset last week & it's been fine since...

1) Remove memory stick & tape & dis-connect battery charger
2) Discharge battery until 5 mins remain
3) Move power switch into off position
4) Hold down record button next to on-off, until "TAPE" LED light(next to CAMERA) turns off
5) Plug in battery charger (to verify that it's charging properly look for "CHG" is lit
6) If it doesn't charge, try reset again.

Thanks, that has done the trick for us (so far) too. Wonder if certain tape types cause problems.
