Sony DCR HC 20 Orange band in high contrast shooting

Jul 11, 2006 12:55AM PDT

When I use my Sony DCR HC20 mini dv camcorder in high contrast shooting, such as shots with lots of sky, I see a narrow, vertical red/orange band on the left of the frame. Can anyone tell me what this might be?

Thanks

Could be the pixel colors on the far right?

If you look at how the imager works it's either that or some other artifact created by how you playback. Your post is far too light on details, but one person was complaining about an image and when I played the tape, it wasn't there. Turned on the effect was only seen on the LCD on the camera.

Artifacts on playback on Sony DCR HC 20

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the reply. The line is noticeable when I playback in Adobe Premiere. I would characterize it as a thin color band which shows up on the left edge of the frame in high contrast situations.I'm wondering if this is some kind of chromatic aberration or a camera defect.

Thanks

John

What we used to dismiss is now under discussion.

Just one thing, remember that in normal TV playback you can't see those edges since the TV doesn't show them.

Taking that into account, not a defect.
