Is the jack you describe the one on Page 81 (item 6) of the manual? If so, there is a note that indicates, "Except for DCR-DVD92/DVD602"... what this tells me is that the housing is the same for all the cameras covered by the manual: DCR-DVD92/DVD103/DVD203/DVD403/DVD602/DVD653/DVD703/DVD803... but in the case of the DCR-DVD92/DVD602, that jack is not even connected to anything inside the camera. I don't think any computer driver would make an unconnected camera jack work. That said, this USB port is live on all the other cameras...
Also, refer to page 98: "Connecting to a computer (except for DCR-DVD92/DVD602)"... this adds more to my suspicion that the port you refer to on the DVD92 camera is not enabled. No computer drivers will ever make this work. Maybe some camera brain surgery, but there's no USB smarts in there to begin with... otherwise, it would probably be a DVD103 or a 203 or a 403...
Bummer.
I have one of these cameras and it really stinks that there is no way to directly hook it up to the computer.. They say there's no USB port. BUT THERE IS ONE!!!! It is in the LCD cavity, covered by a little metal plastic sheet to the right of the disp/batt info button. If you have the right USB cable (which I have) it will hook up to the computer but the computer will not recognize it because there are no drivers. Can anyone find some drivers or modify the drivers for higher end DVD camcorder models such as the 203 or 403??? This would work if there were drivers!!!!!!!!!!! Any thoughts???
