The sony DCR-DVD403 DOES NOT have a firewire port. Pretty much you will not find any DVD camcorders with firewire ports. Another thing, the Sony DCR-DVD403 is an older model. The DVD-405 that came out about 3 weeks ago is replacing it. There is a Sony DCR-DVD505 as well for about $200 more.
I am looking for a DVD camcorder (tired of tapes) and these 2 models seem to be at the top. They are within $35 price-wise, so it should come down to the features. The major differences seem to be FireWire (Sony - yes, Panasonic - no) and Lens (Sony - 1 CCD, 1/3", 2 megapix; Panasonic - 3 CCD, 1/6", 800k per CCD). So, should I go with the better lens or is FireWire that important? Is there something else I am missing?
thanks
