Sony DCR-DVD203

I recently purchased a Sony DCR-DVD203 and recorded my daughter's recital on it. The video came out very bright due to the "nightshot plus" option that was turned on. Is there software available not only to pull the videos off the disc faster and easier but also to edit the brightness of the videos? If so your opinion on which is best would be most appreciated.
