Sony Cybershot DSCP73 drivers in WinME don't work

Apr 6, 2005 7:48PM PDT

Hi!

I'm trying to install original as well as updated drivers for my Sony Cybershot DSCP73 camera on Windows ME (updated!) but it recognizes the camera as unknown device. I've tried to enable device, checked for conflicts but nothing. This happened after I reinstalled Windows ME (clean install).

Before (on old WinME) the drivers were installed on first time and the camera was recognized.

What should be the problem?

My configuration: Compaq Presario 7500 64MB RAM 8GB HD

Please help!

Thanx!

The usual.

Try http://www.usbman.com but the usual is there plus motherboard drivers, enabling the USB in the bios and more.

I'd comment further, but you didn't list the CPU (AMD/Intel, etc) and I offer this note without bother of the research of what the PC is. That's for you to make a good and complete post and not me to dig out what the machine is.

I just want to thank you Bob for the answer.
It proved useful and proved that the answer to my question is ACPI BIOS - because of the conflicting with one of my devices.

Because I did not planned to reinstall WinME again (I've installed it recently)I was planning to find the short cut.

But it have to be the hard way.

Thanx for the useful site.

The short cut.

Is to supply the motherboard or machine make/model and CPU in use. I alluded your post is shy on details and even noted motherboard drivers. Installing Windows ME will not resolve this.

I'd love to help, but the lack of information prevents it.

System info
Apr 19, 2005 7:25AM PDT

I managed to dig out the following:

OS Name Microsoft Windows
Version 4.90.3000 Build 3000
System Manufacturer: Compaq
System Model: Compaq Pressario 7500
System Type: X86-based PC
Processor: Intel(r) Celeron(tm) processor
GenuineIntel ~565 Mhz

Using updated BIOS, when driver was working as well as now when it's not working.

I hope that this is sufficient.

In that case.

Since you didn't find your answer at usbman.com, I'd try an USB 2.0 PCI card, then wipe the machine and use the Restore CDs back to when it worked.
