Question

sony cybershot DSC-P200 will not switch off, lens out, hot

I was zooming the lens, warning lights started flashing, so I switched camera off.
Lens is extended,
green light showing,
on/off button jammed,
camera geting very hot,
help!

Remove the battery immediately

While you have the battery out, charge it.

After it is charged, put it in the camera and watch for any trouble.
Be prepared to remove the battery.
Power-on the camera and continue to watch for trouble.

If the battery starts to heat up, you have a stuck motor or a short circuit.
Remove the battery.
Call Sony repair.

Camera now jammed

Camera now cool but jammed.
Lens is extended, camera will not switch on.

That camera is old enough that the battery is suspect as a failure point.
Rechargeable Lithium batteries can fail dramatically sometimes, overheat and even catch on fire.

You need to find out if the problem is the camera or the battery.
The only way to do that is buy a new battery.
You may do that only to find that the problem is the camera itself.

I suggest you call Sony service and see what they suggest.
