Try one of the new players with HDMI and that should get the video and audio to the TV. But then you find the theater needs updating to handle the new optical audio.
Last idea and one I won't do is https://www.google.com/search?as_q=scart+switch+box

Hi ... my first post!
I used to have a TV with 3 SCART sockets, one of which was connected from the set-top box and the other to the Pioneer DVDplayer, and thence via dual phono lead to the audio amp.
This worked well and I could play the TV sound through the hi-fi if I wished.
I now have the Sony Bravia which has only ONE Scart socket ... plus a proliferation of other various sockets, most of which are a mystery to me at this time!
So my questions are;
1. how do I connect the TV to the audio system, e.g. via the DVD player which has compatible phono sockets, and
2. how do I connect the DVD output back to the TV
(The second SCART lead effectively solved both of these).
Your advice would be most welcome (I'll get around to all thos eother sockets another time!).
