Sony ccd-trv138

by sotreme / January 28, 2009 6:42 AM PST

I have a Sony ccd-trv138 handycam, I want to take video from my handy cam and place it on my Dell inspiron 1420 laptop. I purchased a pinnacle video transfer and av cables; there is no way to connect my handycam to my laptop, because the handycam does not have a USB cord. Can someone please inform me on whether there is a way to take the video recording from handycam and place it on my laptop so I can edit my video?

The Sony ccd-trv138 ...

In reply to: Sony ccd-trv138 an "analogue" camcorder, using Hi8 tapes as recording media.... as such there is no "USB" or " Firewire". It only has AV ports...
To get the video into your computer, you need a analogue to digital video capture card....otherwise, connect the camcorder to a CD or DVD player/recorder, and use the CD/DVD as a source for your video editing... Otherwise, you need a later model of SONY "Digital 8" digital camcorder which plays analogue tape, and with this your computer can capture the video via firewire...
