Sony Camcorder CX150E - direct copy to external HDD

Jun 2, 2010 2:56AM PDT

I faced problem to direct copy camcorder's videos and pictures to external HDD.

The camcorder was powered with DC adapter and one piece USB cable connected between camcorder & external HDD. There is no instruction displayed of Create a New Image Database File on camcorder screen (as described in the user manual). Is it a must to to use USB Adapter Cable VMC-UMA1 (as described in the user manual) if I have the one piece USB cable with correct terminals to connect between camcorder and external HDD?

Could anyone help? Thanks!

Thanks, Bob.

Will heed your advise to purchase theirs - not so cheap. Maybe, that's how Sony makes more money.

The instructions show to use this to do that and you didn't do what the instructions noted. As the cable is not documented and you used something else what's to say you didn't fry these devices?

I hope it turns out well. Here's a thought. If you go to a Sony store, have them demo this to you.
