Sony Bravia KDL-40RD450 (2016) problem..

Oct 10, 2016 6:50AM PDT

Hello everyone.
I have this new Sony tv few months,I use it only for PS4.
I have a problem with black color (if it can be called a problem).
I see something like the mass waves,on dark surfaces,as when at night watching the moon or another light source...
I tried everything, but I can not fix it.
Please look at this short video to see what was going on (full screen and a little closer).

I pray for help,it became frustrating, thinking about buying a new tv..
I hope to have a solution.

Of course, I play games at the best settings (game mod),I tried the other modes, it is always the same..

They want pixel perfect displays. Hey, it's the future and we're not there yet.

Read about HDR10 and OLEDs which is looking good.

I'm not sure what you want to say.

I am sure that the problem tv 100%.
I have another TV in another room, 7 years old,PS4 there looks great (7 years old), and the new Sony (2016) bad.
I pray for a solution, I believe there is a solution, otherwise TV goes in the trash.

Sad Sad

You might be able to sell it to somebody who doesn't use it to play a PS4 game, but just to look TV.

By the way, why did you buy a TV if a monitor would suffice?

If it's a 6 bit panel
Oct 11, 2016 9:52AM PDT

This is usually noticed on 6 and 8 bit panels. It's not a software issue but I don't want to duplicate the web about bits and panels.

Look around for any game mode and try that.

In the description of TV, wrote that the 1080 / 24p (HDMI only).
Other games (FC4, star wars ..) looks ok,GTA V in looks very bad, because it is a game where there are a lot of effects..
In the other room I have another TV Toshiba (7 years old) and PS4 (all games) on it looks great..

My God, this is 2016, is Sony made a bad TV in 2016, I can not believe..

My view is

That TVs are not made for monitor type work. They are made with cost control in mind so for TV, Movies and such, an owner that would play PC games may find it lacking.

That's a perfect question for the sales person in your favorite TV shop. Take your PS4 with you and ask for a demo on the model he advises to be sure he's right and the picture is perfect.

While I think Kees is right

That you'll have to test it with the PS4, the spec today I'd look for is HDR10. On OLED too since plasma is no more. Or just get a gaming monitor.

What kind of TV should be
Oct 13, 2016 1:09AM PDT

Monitor large size is much more expensive than TV,and yet not tv.
I'm most interested in to what I have to pay attention to that detail (full HD or 4K,frequency Hrz,display,HDR support or whatever,Brands: sony,samsung,toshiba...)

I do not have much knowledge about today's TV technologies, and do not know what is important and what is not..?

Buy TV today is a lot of hard work, because there are a lot of details and tricks and customer easily make a mistake in choosing.

I see a basic mistake.

A TV is not a monitor so right there you are heeding for trouble.

4K UHD gaming is not here unless we get into, well, that's on the web. Maybe another year.

More pixels won't solve what you complained about. More colors will. Look again at HDR10 and OLED.

New TV maybe..

No one has a proposal to buy a TV..
Ok here's one.. Today I saw this TV on sale, price 450-500 eur.

Samsung UE 40KU6072 4K,HDR...

Does this TV will be good for the PS4 to use and displays the full potential of today PS4 and next year..?

Since you are not getting a monitor, Kees wrote:

I wrote "HDR10 and OLED" and those change weekly it seems so I think Kees is right here.
