Sony Blu-ray BDV-E770W w/SONY TV and Wii setup

Jun 19, 2010 2:43PM PDT

I have a Sony KDFE42A10 RPTV with the Sony Blu-ray BDV-E770W and a Nintendo Wii that I am trying to setup. I would like the TV and Wii sound to play from the speakers that come with the home theater system. I have HDMI and component cables but I am unable to get all of the sound to come from the speakers. DVD's only play from the speakers and not the tv. The Wii and TV only utilize the TV speakers. Is there anyway to have everything play through the home theater speakers? Thanks for the help.

the TV to the BDV-E770W with a optical audio cable. Give that a try.

I am at a loss now. I realize my TV is older but nothing other than standard cables work. I can't get the HDMI or the Digital Optical cables to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It should have worked but since it didn't,

that leave you no alternative but just hook up either the tv or the wii to the other analog audio connection; take your pick. Or you could use a switching device for your setup.

The tv and Wii still will not play through the Home Theater speakers. Now any movies I play on the BD/DVD (these are regular DVD's not Blu-Ray) only play in black and white. The software/firmware is all up to date on the home theater system. I am only using component wires as the HDMI did not work. Am I having these problems because my tv is rear-projection and older (2005)? Do I need to upgrade my tv? Again any help would be greatly appreciated.
