Sony 55" LCD TV Issues

by rkhanson76 / June 28, 2008 4:30 AM PDT

My Sony television just stopped working the other day. When I try to turn it on, the LED light flashes red 6 times and then shuts down. Does anyone know what the problem could be and/or how much it might cost to fix?

Thanks in advance

What model do you have? With about a zillion Sony models out there, it would help to know what model you have. I take it you haven't read the instruction booklet? My Sony booklet says a flashing red light means your lamp is out and need replacement.

And I did read the manual, but my model has a seperate "lamp" light. This error is actually the the light that lights up green when the TV is turned on, but recently lights up red and flashes 6 times. According to everything I have read, this is a code Sony uses to diagnose the issue, but I have been unable to find what the 6 flashes represent.

Did you register the TV with Sony after you bought it? Even if you didn't, Sony has a website with a Support link where you can email them to post your question. I've done this a few times and they respond quickly.

According to the Manual...

The LED indicator lamp on the front will flash RED when the lamp needs replacing. The manual doesn't say anything about 6 flashes, it just says the light will change from GREEN to RED and it will flash. I would assume this is what's happening, but if you email Sony they will tell you exactly.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
