Same Problem - the songs aren't showing up in Win. Explorer
Mar 11, 2006 11:57AM PST

Hi,

I have a SanDisk Sansa m200 series, that I purchased a week ago, and instead of seeing my music under the ''Media'' directory, I am only seeing empty directories called "Audible", "Config", and "Record".

I used to see a directory called "Media" that I would put my MP3's files into. It is no longer there.

Also, Napster does not see my portable device on my computer. It thinks I don't have one.

Thinking that it might be my computer, I tried it on my wife's computer and the same directories are shown. It is not recognized as a Portable Media Device.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

William

My fix for this problem
Mar 11, 2006 12:38PM PST

The following fixed my problem. I don't know if this will work for you, but I went to the settings menu and scrolled down and found a menu item named "USB". It has two choices when you select it, "Auto-Detect" and "MSC".

The Auto-Detect really sets in MTP mode, which is what you need to see your songs. MSC mode changes it to a mass-storage device and it will appear on your computer as a separate drive, but no songs will appear.

So, make sure the checkmark is by "Auto-Detect".

Hope this helps,

William

Your player is still in MSC mode

Hi,

Sorry the fix I found didn't help. Now that I have my player in MTP mode, I no longer see a drive letter. It seems as if you are still in MSC mode if you are seeing the empty file folders and the drive letter.

You might want to contact SanDisk. I looked this up and found a URL that discussed a little about this problem on their web site.

Most likely you will need to open a support ticket. There is probably something wrong with the software as my player switched itself to MSC mode without my changing any of the settings. Yours might be stuck in the MSC Configuration.

I know how frustrating this can be. Good luck,

William
