something wrong with the driver that loads icons properly

i have a inspiron 7000 notebook and just yesterday it started doing something funny when it loaded. When i enter into my screen name a window pops up saying "the driver that displays icons properly on your computer isnt working right, you may need to install a new driver" then i have the display window pop up after i say ok to that and it sets my color pixels to 16 and wont let me change without restarting the computer, which when i restart it it does the same thing. Is there a way to fix this if so how? and if i need to install or update a driver what would the drivers name be??
