Something wrong with my hard drive

Jun 14, 2007 10:17PM PDT

I made a post last week about an error on my PC:

http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6142_102-0.html?forumID=44&threadID=251349&messageID=2508483&tag=mcnt

First thing I did was change the SATA cable, but I still got some errors. However, the error I get now is different, it error number 0x000000fe. I searched for it on google and I really couldn't find anything. Maybe something with a USB port? I don't know.

Anyway, I took Bob's advice and ran diagnostics on my hard drive.
And those tests failed. All of them. However, it didn't really tell me what was wrong with it. All I got was "Test Failed."

Then I ran a diagnostic in DOS and all I got was "2 errors found" and the test stopped.

Basically, I don't know how to fix this. Should I Just put up the $$ and get a new hard drive, something I really don't want to do, but are there any ways to fix this?

Thanks for the help!

You can't imagine how many put off replacing a failing hard disk then it finally fails HARD and they lose all their files.

If the drive fails hard will it hurt?

Space is cheap! A new hard drive will be better than a new heartache if you lose your data.
