So my friend j7 pro has been stolen and i think we know who the culprit is, except we don't have a proof. But my friend have all the details when he bought the j7 pro and he has access to that supposedly stolen phone since the suppose culprit is just in our school. Can the store where he bought the phone provide the serial number of his phone and we'll compare it to the supposed stolen phone serial number?

My friend have all the proof of purchase etc, i think if he ask the store and if they can provide the serial number and if it's the same as the one that supposed to be stolen phone then i guess the case is solve right? Because i don't think there can be same serial number quote me if i'm wrong about that. And if by any chance that it really is the same, then we can ask the supposed thief to show his proof of purchase if needed.
If so, get near the suspect and dial the phone number of the stolen phone. If in luck and it's with him, maybe it will ring. If so, contact the dean or principle of the school about it.
I'm not sure if this is different with your country but we can easily change the phone number of our phone except for ios device since it's locked to that company where you bought the phone. So i think he already threw my friend sim card and insert a new one.
You ask if the store can do something. Just ask the store. Shouldn't take long to get an answer.
