Have you tried deleting the files in Safe Mode? Can you empty the Recycle Bin on your desktop? Have you scanned that HDD for viruses?
In the past week or so, I have been hearing clicking sounds from my external hard drive. So I?m worried the heads about to fail 100%. The biggest problem is somehow the (this is just a estimate) 60%+ ?corrupt? folders/files. I have tried deleting them in recycle bin and the hidden recycler. I always get an error saying that I cannot delete/rename/cut/copy and, unlock. Same effect in DOS to delete them but again I get an error. The external is a 1TB Western Digital My book home edition. It?ll be one year old on feb 4th. There are two partitions and I tried to split them equally. The partition I used for backups and such has less than 1gb of space. The other partition is around 100-200 and has about 30% free space.
I don?t know what to do. I know I need to get everything off and put it on a disk. When I try to move/cut it will stop because of an error /corrupt.
I would like help with: delete the files in recycler and, fix/recover the corrupt folders and files.
