Question

Someone Define "Free" Macrium software

Dec 6, 2012 10:45PM PST

Seems to be constantly updated on a monthly basis. I wish one can define what is meant by "Free". Its free to download and is only good for a 30 day period, and then you have to buy, if you want it. What good is the 30 day period, if you need to use it AFTER the 30 day period and did not buy?

I think you defined it.

As to your question, it's one of the ways to sell it. If it's that useful, it must be worth buying.

http://download.cnet.com/Macrium-Reflect-Free/3000-2242_4-10845728.html says it's free, but that's a 2009 page.

But http://www.macrium.com/ offers a 30 days trial program. That means that you can try it for 30 days without paying, and if you want to use it after that trial period you have to pay for it. That's a quite common deal. And quite reasonable more-over, don't you think.

Without knowing exactly what product you're talking about, it's impossible to say if something is wrong.

The freeware version ...

as opposed to the commercial versions, is available in version 5 at http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx and has no time limits.

It is free as in the license to make full use of it is yours but you can't modify it or re-sell it.
