somebody always outbids me on the last second !

by pikmee / April 5, 2005 11:11 AM PDT

i thought i'd won the auction and the Aluminum Snowshoes were finally mine ,for only $45 ! Then out of nowhere I get the message that ,after me being the only bidder for 3 days ,the auction is over and I've lost ! Without even a chance to up the bid. This sounds mighty fishy to me . I think the seller wanted a higher price and withdrew the item by saying that it was sold . GIMMEE my snowshoes , dammit !!! Or else don't waste my precious time with your ******** ! Auction, my *** ! That's not what an auction is supposed to be

last second outbids

This is called sniping. It is not illegal. Think of a hawk circling its prey, striking at the perfect moment. If I want an item, I always wait till the end to bid- generally in the last 30 seconds. Refresh the page every 5 seconds or so- at the end and you will see the activity. Try it yourself if you are eager about an item and are watching it till the very end.Doing this keeps others from knowing your interest, keeps the price down, and gives you a real adrenaline rush at the end, too. Just be sure to enter your absolute highest bid, cause others might be there, too.
