Some websites and webapps not working in Vista business

by haasome / February 15, 2007 10:33 AM PST

I've upgraded to Vista at work. Some websites are not loading in Mozilla Firefox but are fine in IE7. I keep getting a "problem loading page" message saying that "the connection has been reset." For example, google.com and lifehacker.com will not work, while yahoo.com and nytimes.com do! Also, programs like AIM and Gaim will not connect for my AIM and Google Chat screen names. I've been told we have a proxy but no filtering software. It can't be a firewall issue [using Windows firewall and defender] because I'm not getting firewall messages--even disabling firewall did not work. I've cleared my cache, cookies and DNS error cache. Will using Firefox and Gaim in XP mode help?

Please help, it's driving me nuts and slowing me down--I'm even thinking of going back to XP after backing everything up...but really do not want to waste time at work doing that.

Thanks in advance!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
