Some interesting quotes from the Star Wars III prequel book

Labyrinth of Evil by James Luceno

Chancellor Palpatine (leter to become the evil emperor) is giving his State of the Republic address (remind you of anyone?):

>>"...we cannot allow the enemies of democracy to rest and recuperate. Like a life-threatening growth taken hold in the body, they must be excised. As a contagious disease, they must be eradicated. If not, our children's generation and generations to come will live under the threat that those who brought chaos to the galaxy will find the strength to regroup and attack anew..."

"The Supreme Chancellor singles out Mygetto, Saleucami, and Felucia," Plo Koon said from beneath the mask that supplied him with life gases.

Ki-Adi-Mundi's elongated head made a subtle nod. "'A triad of evil,' he labeled them."

Keep this in mind as you watch the Republic become the Empire...

We cannot allow them to have a hundred nuclear weapons. We cannot allow a country to, in effect, become the bomb-seller of the world because they're in a snit, and because they can't grow a crop.
~ William J. Clinton (on North Korea), Speech at Beth El Synagogue, St Louis Park MN (13 April 2003).

logical discussion fails to unseat the established government, fall back on works of fiction set in a universe far, far away.
Or, could it be that writers happened to use current events as inspiration, but added their own political beliefs to tell how the situation unfolds?
But, honestly, this does rank up there as one of the best reasons for Bush to be out of office.

I don't know. What do you expect? Remember Nute Gunray? It's kind of laughable if people are getting their historical, political or psychological educations from Star Wars.
