Hi, Mark,

I think most of us are looking forward to having HTML here again.

As long as you have a place to "park" your photos, inserting them here is easy - when we get back HTML, that is. We'll help you out there.

I have to figure out where the hecxk my parking place is because I lost it when my ISP made "improvements".

(Promise you won't post any of them eating, OK?) Happy

Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.

ISP Parking Place
Nov 29, 2003 12:54PM PST

Hi Angeline,

After reading your message, I went to the new and improved site to see if I could find the photos I had parked there but had no luck either. Please post if you find out how to upload or download again. Thanks.

Re:ISP Parking Place

Sorry, Sasha. Looing access to photos is a bummer.

I'm assuming that you parked them on that free web space that was provided by ZDNet. As I recall, that was one of the first things to go. I looked at the ZDNet home page http://www.zdnet.com/?tag=zdfd.header1, but couldn't find a link that might help to check. Nor at the "about CNet:http://www.cnet.com/aboutcnet/index.html?tag=zdfd.about. Nor at CNet member support: http://reviews.cnet.com/4002-7600_7-5082937.html.

My guess is that the site is toast.

You ISP probably provides free web space for a new photo collection. Doesn't get those old ones back, though. Sad

Hope this helps!

Angeline, actually.......
Nov 30, 2003 9:51AM PST

I was referring to the new and improved Comcast site. I have no idea where they put the pictures or their ftp thing. I hadn't used the site for pictures in a while, but I remember seeing the link for storage as soon as I logged in. Now it seems to be gone.

I clicked on both links but there was no menu available to me. I also tried to see what would happen if I modified the page, but it a blank box appeared with a .jsp extension. My computer is a mess these days. I appreciate your taking the time to post the links.

Sasha, I have the same problem!
Nov 30, 2003 8:10PM PST

I waded through their pages of "instructions", but all appeared to be geared toward creating a web page. What I want is an index/image folder. During one clicking marathon, I came acroos "My File Locker", which looked like the old web space, but no way to access it.

I liked the olf ftp because they have a very helpful help message boatd. Reading there, there is a way to continue using it.

I made a simple web page and put my dog's photo on it. Sved it per instructions, but it disappeared.Sad

Sorry I misunderstood re: the parking place.

i would help you out with specific info but you have to be a Comcast user to access much of the info so I can't.

An email to their support personnel explaining the situation should get you all the info and links to pages that can help you out.

if you just want a simple place to store graphics and a page or two take a look at http://www.ivillage.com/ivillage/memberwebsites/ or http://mypages.iparenting.com/

Not until they change the software ...
Nov 29, 2003 6:24AM PST

As it stands you cannot include an image in a post.

What you can do, though, is put a link to the image. If you put an image on a web server (for example at your ISP, which may allow a small amount of web space for you) then people can click on the link and see the picture just like they would click on a link to see a web page.

For example, you can see my old animated signature file at: http://www.yadtel.net/~sirosler/Images/DrBillSig.gif

The easiest way to do this is to just paste the complete URL (including the http: portion) into the message. You don't need to worry about uBBS codes or any of that stuff. Some web servers (like my ISP's) are sensitive to the case of the URL so you need to test before you finalize the post.

Mark,

the th_ on the filename indicates that it is a thumbnail image.

Check the instructions at that photobucket site and see what they say about the proper URL.

In the meantime I will repost your link WITHOUT the th_ portion of the graphic file name and if you click on it things should be much more visible at 918 X 693 PX.

Since I know very littel about snakes and other animals
Nov 30, 2003 3:08PM PST

I wonder if the snake shouldn't have a very similar environment to its original. In this case I see a newspaper with a farming article (which may be of interest to the snake!) and a bucket from KFC I think (what is that bucket for, BTW?). Is that the environment it should be in or was that just the first day when you got it that it was in such a strange place? To me, if it is from Honduras, it should have small pieces of trees and green stuff all over and humidifiers etc. But I am not an expert so I leave it up to you to inform me about that Mark.

OK the buckets a hiding place snakes like places to hide from, newspaper is what most reptile keepers use as its cheap and easy to replace after animal defecates, some keepers use aspen or astro turf, i use paper as i get it daily and with 7 cages to clean its cheaper.
and i mist the snakes daily that require higher humidity, each cage has under tank heating to keep reptile happy, healthy. theres a gradient from 80 to 70 in most cages.
when my red tail boa decides to deficate you would think a dog went in cage, and then you would understand newspaper as a substrate.
i change water daily and handle all daily except i wait a day or so after feeding.
my red tail is 2 yrs old i got her when she was less the a foot long now getting close to the 6 ft mark Grin

how did you do that?

I told you in the posted message Mark. ...
Dec 1, 2003 1:24AM PST

Your link was to:
http://volcano.photobucket.com/albums/v11/mark5019/th_Honduran.jpg

Your link brought up a thumbnail image that obviously was not what you expected. Since filenames are usually descriptive the th_ portion of the filename appeared to indicate that it was a thumbnail of the original so by removing that portion of the filename the original file should sho IF it was in the same directory and obviously it was.

That is why my link:
http://volcano.photobucket.com/albums/v11/mark5019/Honduran.jpg

worked--note the missing th_ portion of the filename?

I am not familiar with PhotoBucket, but their instructions or FAQ should explain this sort of naming convention as apparently the thumbnail is created when you upload files.
