Question

Solid State Drive on desktop- sleep mode or shutdown?

Jul 14, 2016 8:37PM PDT

I have a new pc with a 2 TB standard hard drive and a small SSD, which has Windows and a few games on it.

My question is for my SSD drive is it best to leave my Desktop pc on sleep mode or shut it down? I ask because I dont know a lot about SSD. What is best for the SSD?

I doubt the ssd much cares.
Either way the ssd will lose power.
I have a ssd.
I back the machine down to the desktop and use sleep.

Today I don't think it matters.

The life spans are up so let's go with 2 answers.

1. For those that must get every last second of life span. Shutdown wins. Power off is best.
2. For me and the price crash of SSDs and the higher reliability I've gone against the old advice and turned on hibernation.

This way I get the speed and the power savings.
