Software that replicates a windows error/stop messages

May 30, 2006 6:22PM PDT

Hi Everyone!

I hope I'm not in the wrong place in asking this question.
Is there a software that replicates a windows problem (e.g. windows error codes, STOP messages etc..)? Or maybe a site that instructs on how to replicate a certain windows problem (solution is also provided). I've been googling it but unfortunately I found none. I'll be using the info on problem replication/resolution in my pc troubleshooting project.
Any help and suggestions would surely be appreciated. Thanks..

John

None I know of, but...

I don't know of a program or site that will aid in the reproducing of Windows errors, though I can see where that would be useful. However, I'd approach this from a different way. If you click here, you'll find a list of BSOD errors and STOP codes in the Microsoft Knowledge Base...click on each one for an explanation. From that you can extract the possible causes of the error, and possible ways to reproduce it.

Note, though, that the error messages are not very specific, so there are frequently multiple possible causes...there is no 'you have this error message, so here is exactly how to fix it.' It's more of an imprecise science that must be dealt with through trial and error. Thus, with the number of possible errors, each one having multiple possible causes and solutions, it may take some doing to create a comprehensive guide.

Good luck.
John
