Software manuals

Nov 22, 2004 11:28AM PST

Does anyone know where I could go to print an online manual for a starshine software cd-rom that I have? I got it from an individual and the manual wasn't included. I can't use it because it uses the password-from-manual system. Also I don't have the upc.

I'd suggest you get the manual from the former owner.

tragikomik,

Most software companies attempt to minimize illegal use of their software. That includes an "authentication code" or an included password that comes with the legal purchase of the software. I doubt that a downloaded software manual would include the access password for your program.

Just a guess here, but you may need to purchase the software to legally obtain the password. You might want to read this page from their support site. It appears like you need to provide "proof of Purchase" somehow. Then again, maybe discussing it with their support people might get you something.:

Hope this helps.

I have talked to someone on their web page, and they just said that if I had the UPC they could send me a copy of the manual. It's the type of prog where each individual program is guarded by a password on 'x' line of 'x' page of the manual....
Also does anyone here have any tips on using bittorrent or album-at-once?
