General discussion

Software Kings and Queens.

Dec 26, 2005 9:00AM PST

Installed and ran EWIDO, got 208 infections, numerous as worm.VB.cv and associated with a program in C:/ Windows/Software Kings and Queens.

EWIDO says that it gor rid of all of them.

However the program is still installed under C:/Windows. Not listed in add/remove programs. What is it and how do I get rid of it?

Interesting, since I never used Kaza

Only downloads at all were via WinMX over a year ago.

Vaguely remember something many months ago that mentioned Kaza, thought it was a pop up and deleted it.

I'll now follow your procedure to hopefully get rid of it.

Breackuk. E. However I had just run the EWIDO and got rid of a lot of related stuff. However, the Kings and Queens program is still there, but not listed in add/remove programs.

I'll delete it and then run a reg cleaner.

Late reply, sorry.

Manually deleted the Kings and Queens program, rebooted checked that things all seemed to work. Then removed the restore points. Rebooted and then made a new restore point. .

Did a scan everything fine.

Thanx for the help.

reg cleaner
Dec 27, 2005 12:31AM PST

Hi Ray;

Speaking of reg cleaners, does anyone know of any reliable (free) registry cleaners or, if I must purchase one, what is the general concensus of the group... In reviewing of this week's post's, it sounds like spysweeper is fairly popular.

I know that's a loaded ?, but I'm a newbie & at the mercy of the unknowns. Any advice is welcome.

It is Free, and does a good job, also easy to use. It will also make a Backup, which is important. Read about it before you use it.

Hope this will help.

Dear Ray- thanks for starting this thread.

Dear Roddy, Phil, and Larry et al - Your tips/suggestions/knowledge base astounds me. I can't begin to tell you how much I've learned today. I have been to every site you recommended, read all that I could absorb at one sitting (actually I took a few breaks, but brief ones). I have scanned, cleaned, filed, and freed my pc. I was also pleased to discover that my sweet lil' notebook is in pretty good shape. Nevertheless, I now have an arsenal of weapons for future use.

It simply amazes me that there are such caring and responsive people out there who are willing to help people like me. This reinforces my belief in the "pay it forward" policy. It truly works.

A big thanks and hugs to all of you. You are now one of my New Year's resolutions: Spend at least 2-3 hrs/week at the "forum" learning and spreading the word to pc users who are even less pc illiterate than me. You truly are very special people...Kudos to all!

and one of the reasons that I do this is the "Pay it Forward" as you mentioned. It's the best policy in the world and you are very welcome from all of us I'm sure. Happy
