Software for video presentation

Nov 17, 2016 7:26AM PST

I need a software for creating presentations that mainly contain video and pictures. PowerPoint is not an option since the video quality gets significantly reduced and videos mostly lag.
I also cannot simply make a playlist because I need to play specific video and pictures at a specific time which is not known before starting the presentation. I also need some options like videos fading into one another and all that going smoothly without the audience seeing the mouse cursor or anything else.
What would you recommend? It would be nice if it was free but feel free to suggest any software you think is right.

I wonder if you are pining for what you see at shows.

http://www.apple.com/keynote/ for example. Here I don't see the lag or issue you noted but the laptops that run the show are all i7 with gobs of RAM.

Google "keynote alternatives."

Remember I'm not seeing the issue you listed. I wonder if it's the fairly high powered machines we use for presentations. All are now i7, 16GB RAM and moving all to SSD.
