IRS officials portray the changes as housecleaning to update outmoded regulations adopted before it began accepting returns electronically. The proposed rules, which would become effective 30 days after a final version is published, would require a tax preparer to obtain written consent before selling tax information.


I wish something could be done about bank accounbt numbers not being encrypted on their statements. Only recently did my health insurance quit putting my SS# on the stuff they send.

... did my class rosters not carry the FULL SSN of all students! I recently disposed of many years old rosters (prelims and the like). I took the time to shred them. Doubtful most of these were disposed of in this manner.
