If your modem itself is shot then you have to get a new one from SBC. If your router is shot you can buy a new one of any brand. If your router still works fine but you need to reconfigure it you can push and hold the tiny reset button (usually requires a paperclip or pen to get to) for about 15 seconds. When you let go it should return the router to factory defaults. From there you can set it up again as needed. Good luck.
So, I have been having modem problems since Monday. I am able to get a wireless signal from my neighbors unsecured network, BUT, I have taken all of the advice on hear about doing that. So, not internet for me at the moment.
I called tuesday night and tech support says that there was an outage in my area and that things would be working after 930pm since they could not detect any dsl/modem signal on my line. I tried to tell the lady when it had been out, but she didn't seem very helpful and seemed to want to just say that it was due to the outage.
I called again last night, and I was on hold, and then disconnected.:(
So, I will try again tonight. If they cannot fix it and my modem is shot, sigh, how long for a new one? I am tempted to just go and get a cheap modem on-line, but I have no idea of how to really set it up AND I lost my name and password for my netgear router.
What can I do to just reset both my netgear and get a new router and get everything up and running smoothly?
I have already reinstalled my comp program and it is back to factory settings due to an earlier crash.
Sigh. Please help.
