If you want a standard TV you can get a 32" for $300~400.
CRT TVs have the best track record for longivity.
In the HDTV world with a $1000 budget CRTs are your best bet. Below are some links to the few that still make them.
At this point in time getting a HD srt is the way to go.
CRT and LCD are in your price range. Again for reliabilty the CRT has the advantage. John

i need a new tv and i don't know what type to buy? i was looking at the sizes around 30 to 40 inches and at around 1000 bucks. Also wanting one with a long lifespan. what's good; LCD, Plasma???
