General discussion

So DK, Jeanne Assam is NOT a good Christian, correct?

Dec 10, 2007 2:29PM PST

And what of Pastor Boyd, who authorized the security plan that included several church members who, like Ms. Assam, have CCWs? He must be even worse, no?

At your Church, you would have security personnel armed only with Tasers, right?

Righteous Balance
Dec 16, 2007 3:26AM PST

She had to balance the innocent lives that could be lost by doing nothing against the wicked life that had to be taken. There is no Biblical righteous reason to allow innocent lives to be taken. There are plenty of biblical admonitions to work out justice.

something that Jehovah created. Rev 4:11
Accidents do happen (e.g. shooting at the leg but fatally hitting the femoral artery), but there is bloodguilt when one can "reasonably foresee ..." (Also a term from criminal law, BTW.) Num 35:6-34

'But God used to command his people to kill others!'
Used to; I hear no such commands nor do I expect to, based on several scriptures I've already cited, plus several more. Plenty of perfectly justified killing to come, by Jehovah and Jesus; I suspect you'll be more sickened than pleased. Isa 26:20

I can certainly make an attempt to stop a violent crime. Consider, though, that I'm likely to fail, unarmed as I am, and I just might cause someone's death- mine, the perp's, the victim's. Rev 4:11
