Snow Leopard Desktop Shrinking Icons

Sep 30, 2010 1:35AM PDT

Why does Finder keep shrinking the size of the icons on my desktop? I set them for 48 X 48 and a few minutes later they reset spontaneously to 16 x 16. Irritating

Same issue.

Hi there
I am having the same issue. I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.5. on a MacBook Pro. From time to time the icons on my desktop reduce in size to 16 from my standard 32. As well, occasionally while i'm browsing the internet, my browser content shrinks for no apparent reason.

I'm wondering if anyone has a reason/remedy for this glitch.

Deleting the finder prefs file? That file may be corrupted.

It's the trackpad!

I took the same problem to the Genius Bar when I had my MacBook Pro in for another problem. They pointed out that if you have the trackpad prefs set to allow pinching to resize photos, etc., it works in the finder as well! Try it.

I would rather they lock down the dang finder to the view preferences settings. Seems dumb that an errant finger flick will completely override your prefs settings. :-7
