Snow!

HEY Im a high school film maker, and I own a sony HVR-a1u. It records in HDV 1080i. In a few weeks I'm going out to Colorado and I want to take my camera up into the bowls (peak of mountain where you can ski.) I will probably take some kind of bag with me. The thing I want to know is what thebest method of protection is for snow & strong winds. Im thinking of wrapping plastic bags around the camera and making it almost air tight, just using the viewfinder to look through.

The issue with just using plastic bags is it is

not going to help much with the video quality.

To protect my $2,000, I would opt for something like the Ewa-Marine VMX...

You will probably want to leave the XLR adapter and external mic(s) behind... You should consider asking Ewa Marine about how their gear behaves in snow since their concentration is underwater.
