Snapdragon vs Exynos in the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro

Mar 13, 2014 1:36AM PDT

I was wondering if the LTE version with the Snapdragon chip would make enough of a difference to make it worth waiting for over the now available Exynos WiFi version of the 12.2" Note Pro.

Does any one know when the LTE version will be released in North America? I'm from Toronto.

CNET just did an article about processor choices.

I can't find the link today so I'll summarize. The choices are made on price and feature trading. Once in a while you encounter someone that wants a specific CPU or feature and the best advice I have is "keep looking."

Comparisons

Googled. Found some comparisons. And it appears that while the Snapdragon processor is preferred the Exynos equipped aren't slouches anymore either. So, given the choice (and that I'm not in a hurry for the Samsung G Note Pro) I'll wait for the LTE variant which will have a version of the Snapdragon processor. Will it be the 800 still or the newer 805 64-bit?

Perhaps by the time the LTE version is out Apple might finally announce the release date for their rumoured 12.9" iPad.

Are you trying to replace a laptop/other thing?

https://www.google.com/search?q=android+64+bit gives us a lot to digest but while I use/program for Android I can't tell why I would worry/fret over Snap or other CPU today. It's not as if I'm trying to move off my laptop or chromebook.

I can wait...

For me, it's about choice and was not being If in a hurry to buy a new tablet (never owned one) then why not get the Snapdragon?

If I truly needed a new tablet now then yes I'd just pickup the Exynos chipped Samsung Gal Note Pro.

If Samsung is going to rob us and ask $200 more for the Snapdragon (LTE) version then the choice is easier for me. Being that the Exynos WiFi version is already costly enough at almost $800 CAD. Costing more than a lot of good laptops and tablets.

I guess I'll wait for the LTE version of the Note Pro or the 12.9" iPad...though, I sort of would prefer to wait at most till Xmas for our Boxing Day sales instead of waiting till sometime next year for when the rumoured 12.9" iPad is to be released.

The one thing about Samsung.

Is they tend to be annoying to the point you can't use the tablet till you register it on their site. This caused my neighbor to return his in less than 3 days. For some odd reason Samsung's registration was down for days so they won't consider that brand for tablets.

Very odd choice by Samsung.

Register or we can't use them??

You got to be kidding Bob. Which isn't a big deal really. But is an annoyance for sure. A hurdle new Samsung tablet owners must leap over.

I like the fact that the Note Pro is 12.2" allowing you to view the complete page of a magazine at one time. And that it has an S-Pen so we can use it like a Wacom tablet. Loved that about the 2014 10.1 Note.

Having a tablet is a novelty for me. Not essential. So if I still end up with a Samsung Galaxy Note Pro later fine. If I end up with an Apple iPad 12.9" that would be okay too. Though, I do like the customizability of the Android platform over Apple's rigid iOS "this is how I am take it or leave it".

If only Apple would include a S-Pen as well in their next iPad.
