Question

smartv too dark

Aug 24, 2017 5:34PM PDT

I was moving my antenna on my TV from one side to the other and my TV went out. It was just flashing. I finally got the power line back in good and it came back on. The screen is so dark now. I called Samsung they walked me through the setting and then suggested I send it off to be fixed. Has anyone found a solution for this without sending it off. This is me Netflix Mt amazon prime and Hulu. Don't have the money to repair or replace for real.

I did call Samsung we went over settings.

Did you go over all resets?

Samsung may have a "factory reset" too. But if those fail it's often a repair issue.

One parting idea. Check with the samsung site on your model. I would but the model number was incomplete. There are usually 4 letters at the end.

Did factory reset

Samsung took me through all reset and settings. I just did the factory reset. Did not help. I am really not liking Samsung at this point.

Then sad news.

While I don't want to get into the feels here, it looks like a 2012 model so Samsung did get you 5 years and then something failed.

Since it doesn't respond to settings, and I take it you tried menus to push up the brightness then it's likely to be the common LED failure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEJoPCa7Kt0 is one of hundreds of videos about LED backlight testing and failures.

For electronic techs, mildly advanced work.

it's all over now!

It went blank on me. Can't get it back on. I bought that TV 3 1/2 years ago at Walmart. I do not think 5 years is long enough for a TV.. I will never buy a Samsung again for sure.
