I carry an optical cable on all calls. Need to know why?
I have a ES8000 TV, attached to a AVR with a HDMI cable.
First note that it was working earlier.
Second, when I go into Troubleshooting and do sound test, keeping "External Speaker", I hear the sound coming from the home-theater speakers. Furthermore, the dialog box that appears immediately after has a Yes/No choice, and I hear the "bloop" sound when I move the cursor between those two buttons. I see the AVR indicating a signal.
In all other cases, the sound is not working. I don't hear the "bloop" when I navigate the menu. No SmartHub apps produce sound.
It's not the cable or the AVR settings, as seen from the successful test. It's like the TV just decided not to send sound anymore, except when under the Sound Test menu.
