HDCP (you can find out what that is on google) mandates that any device that can render audio or video, when it passes out an audio (or video) will degrade that audio to stereo. If the TV passes video, that must be standard definition.
So yes, there is ONE exception for OTA and apps but for the BLURAY it's doing exactly what the industry mandates.
Some folk want to get legal on this and I can only write "Go get 'em tiger."
To fix this I have to run the bluray audio to the HT.
I have a new PN60E550D1FXZA 60' plasma, and I've noticed that via my HDMI ARC receiver connection, all Dolby, DTS, etc. sound coming from Netflix, AllShare, Amazon, etc. is converted to stereo.
I also have a new Samsung Blueray player connected the same way to the same receiver, and the Smarthub apps here don't exhibit the same problem. Dolby, DTS, etc is passed through correctly to the receiver.
I'm running the latest version of Smarhub. Is this a bug? Is anyone else having this problem?
