Question

Smart TV not connecting to WiFi

Aug 4, 2016 4:45AM PDT

So I have 2 smart samsung TV's and 2 smart blue ray players. I am able to connect to the better and use the miracast, or connect to the blue ray and use the samsung smart hub to watch Netflix. When I try to connect to the Wi-Fi using the smart rv only they do not connect. One tv won't let me change the network connection from wired to wireless, and the other tv won't even find the Wi-Fi network. I have no issues connecting to the Wi-Fi with other devices but when I try to connect to Wi-Fi using my tv's I can't. Any ideas? I have called samsung before but I am tired of the bouncing around between my internet provider and samsung, poor kids behind the phone don't know what to do. And I am pretty sure it is a samsung issue. I was thinking maybe the tv's need to be updated but I can't update them without having internet. Frustrating.

Here's a thing.

I find that TVs tend to have short WiFi ranges. Many have issues at 20 feet which I may as well run an Ethernet connection. Samsung's in particular seem to be very short in distance.

To add to what Bob hinted at...

Spare yourself the constant tech support calls and frustration. Utilize either a standard Ethernet (wired) connection for all devices involved, or as a middle ground if adding ethernet/wiring between rooms/floors simply isn't practical for your particular devices/placement, try a wireless bridge, powerline adapter or MoCA adapter (depending on what type of cables exist in your home already). Answer
Update via USB
Aug 23, 2016 10:36AM PDT

Hi anerol_lv,
With a laptop or desktop go to the samsung website and you'll be able to search for your model tv once there you'll be able to download the most recent update for your tv. I have had issues even when the tv is connected to the wifi it does not show the most recent updates.
you can then put this file onto a USB, plug it into your television and when you press the source button the usb should be highlighted, go into it and select the file. it should initiate the update.
