Question

smart iptv consuming memory

Apr 28, 2016 5:40AM PDT

Hi,

Well, i'm using Smart iptv app of smart hub.
I have remarked that the internal memory is getting lower when i use this app (So this app is consuming mermory)
I have 2 questions:
1: why?
2: how to erase data comsumed by this app or how to get back my default free memory ? cause if i will use it everyday, memorey will gonna be full in few days.
I have to reset smart hub or what? is that normal?

Thanks

Answer
Most likely you uninstall the app.

And it will free the memory.

But it is proper for memory to be used for many reasons. I think the smart iptv support won't have a technical reason ready to share why it uses memory so I'll go with it should.

uninstalling apps is not a solution

Many apps today are buggy, this may be one. For now I think my solution is how you'll fix it when the memory gets full.

This is my answer to your question. Be sure to get answers from the app and TV maker next.

It hasn't happened yet. My view is that buggy apps like this, are reported to maker and author.

I understand you want a fix but these are Closed Source and not open for us to go fix.

Left with that we have to find workarounds such as uninstalling the IPTV app if and when the memory use causes it to fail.

What do you think about closed source systems like this?

On other apps to free up memory.

As to the IPTV app alternative Samsung controls the app store and there is no "sideload" or other way to use apps that don't come from Samsung. I don't know if you know the Smart TV system yet so this had to be written.

I think it was a mistake by me to omit writing why an app like this will use memory. Here's a short list of memory use if I wrote this app.

1. Keeping track of each title the user looked at.
2. The recently played list.
3. Where to resume playback on any played title.
4. The watch later list.
5. Login information.
6. Buffered data to help get better performance.

I'm sure there are more items to keep track of in such an app, but it should slow down how much memory it uses over time unless it's really buggy.
