Resolved Question

Smart Hub glitch

Just bought a Samsung 60" es7100. Have problems with Smart Hub. Two minutes after turning the TV on (when the TV is connected to the internet), the TV screen flashes the Smart Hub screen for a split second, then returns to what I was watching before, This happens every single time I turn on the TV. Even replaced this first TV with an Identical es7100, problem persisted. Got a new router with a very strong signal, the problem still exists. I am at a loss, please help. Thanks.

RE: Smart Hub Glitch

I chatted w/a Samsung tech support rep this morning and he said that a Smart Hub update is scheduled for 12/20. On 12/20, power on your TV and open the Smart Hub. The update should start automatically.

*It is now January 10th 2013 and "NO" fix.

There is currently no fix for this issue. The alleged December 20 fix never got released. Apparently Samsung is still having difficulty tracking down and addressing this bug.

Hi BestBuy Tech,

I'll reply to both this post and the other one (http://forums.cnet.com/7726-13973_102-5409231.html) on this thread here.

l checked with the product specialist again today. He told me there is currently no release date, but they as far as he knows, the firmware team is still working on it.

Re: Smart Hub glitch

Hi Samsung Tech...the Smart Hub flashing up for a moment doesn't do any harm to the TV, correct? Thanks...

Smart Hub Flash

I did the update today, and I am still getting the random smart hub flash. Does this mean there is something wrong with my TV or is there still people experiencing this problem?

Same

I still have the same problem after the update as well.

Smart Hub

I'm having the exact same problem. The update didn't fix it either. I'm loving everything about my TV except for that.

Other problem

I have noticed on espn 3d that there is a small bleeding line at the top of the screen but I believe this is a Comcast problem because I don't have problems with 3d on anything else.

I got the update too, and the glitch is still there, must be a problem with the software, might have to wait for another update!!

Smart Hub Glitch Update Failed

I also installed the new update yet continue to have the Smart Hub glitch. Disappointed mainly because I just bought this tv less that a month ago, I hope this issue is a software issue. This is my first Samsung tv and paid a pretty penny for it. Can Samsung_HD_Tech please give us an update on the update? Thanks

Re: It's the weekend and Update

Hi Bob and all,

I've been saying 'soon'; you'll note I never gave a date, and as far as I know, it hasn't come out yet. The product specialist is out for Christmas Eve and Day. So I'll check in with him on Wednesday.

As of 12/27/2012 this issue remains a concern.

Several 60ES8000's were returned yesterday (12/26/12) due to this issue. We contacted Samsung direct and were assured an update was out. We were then told to reset SmartHub on both televisions and then let it automatically update SmartHub. Unfortunately that did not resolve the issue. After contacting Samsung's Tech support back with the results, the tech then took over control of one of our televisions. The tech did exactly what we did and the issue was still there. I have contacted our neighboring district stores. There have been "Lots" of Samsung Smart TV returns on the day after Christmas from complaints of this issue.

I also noticed that there were many complaints of purplish tinted blacks with the 60ES8000 model series. I hope these issues gets resolved soon. We did confirm and report the purplish blacks on the returned televisions. The tech mentioned there is no current fix to this issue.

Also worth a mention. It has come to our attention that Samsung also deleted an option called Cinema Black from this years ES8000 series. A few returns were from customers complaining about this as well. From what we can tell, Cinema Black turns off the LEDs on the top and bottom portion of the letterbox bar area so the black bars maintain a deep solid black color. Oddly enough, its on this years ES9000. Perhaps the evolution kit upgrade will bring this requested feature back onto the ES8000 series.

Hi BestBuy Tech,

Thanks for your feedback. I checked with the product specialist: the Smart Hub update has not been released, and I don't have a date for release either. I've been told 'soon', so I'll tell you soon.

Troubling

I am very disappointed with the lack of ability to tackle this issue. I love the tv, but it's a real showstopper and embarrassment when you're trying to show it someone and that hub flashes!

Re: As of 01/10/2013 this issue remains a concern

It is now January 10th 2013 and we are still getting the run around as to when a working fix will be released. We have called Samsung numerous times and are getting no where. More and more Samsung TV's are being returned for this reason. Please stop telling your customers to reset the smart hub when they call support as that is not the fix. We have already gone over that. Perhaps you will have a better chance of getting a real answer. This is now an ongoing 3 month and continuing unresolved issue. People are looking for answers. Please provide an update. Thank you.
