Smart Home Devices Help

Hey everyone, so we are redoing my living room and want to add several different smart devices when its built.

Right now we have 4 LIFX bulbs and I wanted to add on a few smart switches. I spoke to LIFX support who said a Wemo Smart switch with those LIFX bulbs will not work well and the switch may reset the bulbs to factory defaults. I was curious if anyone knew if this was correct or not since the rep wasn't positive either?

If this is true, what does everyone else use if they have a physical button or switch for the lights?

I am really hoping to have a physical button so you don't always have to speak to google home. I understand there are other smart switches but like the flic, you need it connected to your phone to make the action work I believe?

Thank you!

I went to the horse (of course) at https://www.lifx.com/ to see what these connect to. I didn't find any switch so my though is you'll have to build your own IFTTT solution. I only have the Amazon Echo so the smart switch talks to the Amazon (in your case the Google Home) and the IFTTT script you wrote completes the connection.

But with the wemo smart switch, it just cuts power and swtiches power on, the lifx works just like a lightbulb now with a normal switch.

So wouldnt it just work the same?

My thought was to head to the maker's source and see how they controlled it today. Since you have these now and the Wemo does that you can test now without the Wemo. Just turn the power on/off and see what happens.
