
You may have heard or read about smart TV being able to report to manufacturers your viewing habits. Basically, whatever you use the TV for and even "open mike" recording if voice activated controls. So all that data gets used to better serve you, yeah right. It probably is used to zero-in on likes and provide a venue of products offered or promoted to you.
In my new TV, that's wifi capable and having the option of apps for use. I have limited internet connection thru a "hot spot device" on loan. I use it now and then. It tells me my TV(not ON) is connected and you know I don't see what that provides for me. So, be aware of this and potentially disable in TV options setting NOT to share data with partners, etc.. Samsung and LG seem to do this as reported in Consumer Reports magazine.
